2022.01.19 19:27 silentlyambitious Civil engineering in disaster relief
3rd year structural engineering student with OPG (international development) at Western university in Canada. I was wondering whether there are jobs in disaster relief recovery and if anyone knows what the pay looks like. (To be specific, I mean if an area gets hit hard with an earthquake, do civil engineers get sent out to help “rebuild”?

2022.01.19 19:27 Familiar-District-34 League of Legends Guide: Damwon Gaming ShowMaker’s Tank Akali build
Akali stands as one of the popular League of Legends champions. Whether you play her mid or top, she’s constantly a force to reckon with in solo queue. Pro players have also whipped out the assassin to great effectiveness. Now combine her strengths with the mechanical prowess of mid prodigy Heo “ShowMaker” Su from Damwon Gaming. The result? A monstrous build that not only makes Akali a damage threat but also near unkillable.
Overall, opponents will find the champion a frustrating one to deal with, but she offers a lot of potential for outplays in the right hands.

2022.01.19 19:27 pacific_marvel Is the Atem Mini Pro right for our church? Streaming and In-House
| I'm wanting to try and simplify the rats nest of cables and adaptors that we have at our church but I need input. I think the Atem Mini Pro might be the way to go (or even the regular Mini?) but would love some advice from those that know the hardware limitations..|
Here's a diagram of what I'm thinking:
Currently we have a M1 Mac Mini that does all the heavy lifting. It takes live video from a Sony A6400 via an Elgato CamLink, combines it with our presentation slides via OBS, and streams it to Facebook Live. Additionally, those presentation slides are pushed out to our projector via an old switchescaler. I need to replace that because it is analog only and the switching back and forth from digital to analog is giving us issues. My thinking is that the Atem Mini Pro would be a good replacement since it would allow us to switch between devices (mainly just the output from the Mac and a Blu-Ray player which gets occasional use.)
What would be even better is if the Mini Pro would allow us to plug the camera into it and stream directly to Facebook Live without utilizing the Mac and OBS but while also allowing slides from our presentation software to be overlaid on the video for our streaming audience. While the Mini Pro can do that, I don't think this setup would work for us because there needs to be a connection to the projector that has just the presentation slides and not the video.
We don't care about a delay in the stream - it's not being utilized in-house currently. But maybe it would be in the future? It might be nice to display the livestream video (that has the overlaid slides) on a screen or two in our lobby.

2022.01.19 19:27 lelunaaa How to get into the healthcare industry as an CE student?
I've always been very interested in the healthcare industry. However, as an undergraduate I chose computer engineering - I'm still in my 3rd year, but I don't plan on dropping out of the course.
With that in mind, and for those who work (or have worked) in this industry, what paths do you suggest for me to start working in it?
* I have no experience related to healthcare. Would it be better to go in search of a specialization in the future? Deepen into AI? ... * * I also know that Healthcare Industry is a very broad term. But as I said, I still haven't figured out what I really want to pursue, but it's possibly going to be in creating medical equipment or automating processes.
Any comment is welcome!

2022.01.19 19:27 ClumpyApple226 Any mental health advice?
Hi Reddit, just gonna keep this short cause I’m tired and need to sleep. Recently I’ve been feeling lots of emotions, but not many good ones. Mostly all I feel is regret for things in the past or even just how I am. I think that a lot of things are just in my head, but there’s always this sense to me that my friends don’t actually want to be around me. People generally don’t just come up to me and try to have a conversation, like I see with other people. Also I get very self conscious and emotional when people are talking about things in a conversation and I try to get involved but a lot of the time just end up getting blanked or people tell me “oh it doesn’t matter, you wouldn’t get it anyway.” Finally, as I don’t want to drag too much, I feel that people don’t laugh with me anymore and that I’m just seen as emotionally unstable so people can’t be themselves around me. In the end I just regret everything. Please if anybody has any advice or just comforting words, it would be great. Thank you for your time.

2022.01.19 19:27 howdeethiq Rogers Place
Hi everyone, I’m planning on coming to Edmonton in April for a Slipknot concert (not sure if that matters, maybe it can give someone a picture on the size of crowd possibly coming to the show) and I would like to bring my boyfriend with me. Both of us have never been to Rogers Place, and my boyfriend gets nervous in big crowds so I was wondering if anyone has a possible idea of what to expect for a concert like this? Based off the tickets selling and a layout of the arena, it looks like the top circle of Rogers Place will not be used for the concert, so only the lower half and the pit will be sold for people coming to the concert. I am just curious if with COVID restrictions if there would be a certain amount of people allowed to go, or if anyone would recommend going if big crowds make you nervous. I’m just not sure about the capacity allowed at the arena, I haven’t been able to find anything online. Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you :)
